We’ve all been there.
We’ve all seen that one product that just screams, “YOU NEED ME!” You lust over it for days, weeks, months, and finally you spend the money on it. You’re so super excited to finally own this holy grail of holy grails, aaaand your dreams are shattered entirely when you realize that, uh, it sucks.
This is one of those products for me. Meh..
PRICE: I’ve seen this go for around $10-12.00 depending on where you’re shopping for it. I’d suggest Beautyhabit, simply because they’re awesome.
PACKAGING: Easily the best thing about this balm, and clearly, this is what they’re really charging the $10+ for. The packaging is a work of art in itself. Each balm is packaged in a .22oz little glass tub (screw-on lid, woo!), and is held securely in an adorable little box. The boxes are decorated with cute little pictures and glitter and kissing tips. The balm tub-lid is covered in a label, featuring the brand name, product name, and flavor name. All a little confusing to read, but in an artistic sort of way. All printed on a fancy background. Around the edge of the lid, they have printed the brand name and product name over and over again. My one and only complaint about the packaging is that the opening of the tub is a little small, making it a little difficult to stick your finger in to retrieve the stuff. Other than that, it’s all good. My words really don’t do this justice, honestly. If the actual product was worth the money, I’d urge you to buy it yourself, just to see how adorably awesome the packaging is.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: From fingertip to lips, the glide really isn’t bad. It kinda slides right on. The texture isn’t totally awful, but it’s a little slick and oily, and a little light. Smooth, though.
SMELL/FLAVOR: This is available in a variety of flavors (including: Honey Blossom, Cherry Bomb, Iced Green Tea, Petit Fours, Let Them Eat Cake, Rose Water, Opera Mint, Sweet Cream, and Candied Violette). I only have it in Sweet Cream, and I gotta say.. I’m not in any way, shape, or form a fan. It definitely has a sweetness to it, and that part is good, but the sweetness is almost masking a Playdoh-y smell. It definitely does not have a creamy scent to it. Maybe the other flavors smell better. I don’t know. But this is really nasty.
LASTING POWER: The lightness and slickness of the balm really do put a damper on the lasting power, but you do feel remnants of balm still after an hour and a half or so.
INGREDIENTS: Sunflower seed oil, petroleum, beeswax, flavor, lanolin, ozokerite, vitamin E, aloe vera, shea butter, cetyl alcohol, stevia rebaudiana bertoni sweet leaf extract. (taken from Beautyhabit)
OVERALL: So.. The packaging is adorable, yes. Very unique and creative and adorable. The flavor, though, is almost gag worthy. The texture is a little too oily for my tastes, and it does next to nothing as far as moisturizing is concerned. If it were a cheaper balm, I might be willing to repurchase, to see how the other scents compare to this one, but at that price.. No thanks. I’ll catagorize this as a novelty balm, because with that packaging, that’s really all this is to me.
