Today Balmaholic is in a good mood, and why am I in a good mood? Because as I type this, I am living through the first thunderstorm of the season. And I looove thunderstorms. So, right now, not even my cranky allergies can bring me down.
In celebration of this awesome storm, I’m bringing you an awesome lip product. ‘Cause you know, thunderstorms and lip balm go hand-in-hand.
PRICE: $11.00 at tarte or Amazon.com
PACKAGING: It should be pretty obvious to you that this isn’t your standard tube. This is more like a lipstick tube. An innovative, nifty lipstick tube. When you pull the top from the bottom of the tube, a mirror pops out, which I find to be pretty darn convenient. On the bottom half, there is a little tab sticking up to secure the mirror when you’re not using it. There’s a small brand logo, and a small label on the bottom of the tube (and all it says is what the product is), but other than that, it’s all tube.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: Well, the cool thing about this is that it’s a “2-in-1″ product. One side of the stick is a sugar exfoliator, while the other side is the lip balm. It’s a cool idea and all, but actually applying one side or the other to your lips is a bit of a pain in the bottom, You have to hold it so that the stick is very flat on your lips, or else you’re bound to get some of the other when you don’t mean to. It just takes some really annoying practice to get used to it. Anywho, the glide of the exfoliator is expected to be rough, and after leaving it on for a couple seconds, simply lick it off. That’s the nice thing about sugar-made exfoliators. The lip balm glides on smoothly, and feels incredibly creamy. A little thick, but not uncomfortable.
SMELL/FLAVOR: It has a sweet, close-to-vanilla scent. I’m not sure if I’m only just smelling the sugar from the exfoliator, but either way, it smells pleasant.
LASTING POWER: About two hours or so. Not too shabby.
INGREDIENTS: You can read a short list of some of the “skinvigorating” ingredients at tarte.
OVERALL: The more I use ‘em, the more I love exfoliators. How did I live without them for so long? I think there might just be room for some more beneficial lip products on Balmaholic after all.. But anyway, this is a great product, and if you’re looking for a good balm/exfoliator duo, check this out.
