Pharmacopia Herbal Lip Elixir

Pharmacopia Herbal Lip Elixir

I’ve had this balm laying around for quite awhile now. I don’t want to say that I’ve been avoiding the review but.. I’ve been avoiding the review. I don’t like giving bad reviews. I really don’t. It breaks my heart a little to think that there are lip balms in this world that just aren’t quite up to par, and it’s like dissing a member of my family when I have to bad-mouth them for all of the internet to see. But luckily, this balm is like that relative I wish I wasn’t related to, so I don’t really care too much about giving it a bad review. Let’s go!

PRICE: $7.99 at Pharmacopia

PACKAGING: It’s a chunky tube at .25oz. The label is clear on top of a clear tube, and I do like being able to see how low on balm I’m getting, so that’s a plus. The label reminds me of a drugstore, actually. Kind of professional looking. The product name is bold and visible, and believe it or not, the ingredients list isn’t written in itty bitty font. So, um.. Yeah, the label is about the only positive thing I can say about this balm. Enjoy it, enjoy it, enjoy it, and.. Read on.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide is smooth, and I can’t really complain too much about that, but the texture? No. Grit, grit, grit. Kitty litter lips. The balm around the grit is nice and smooth, but it really is hard to look past all the freakin’ sand that’s smothering my mouth.

SMELL/FLAVOR: This is supposedly chamomile tangerine, and maybe that’s so, but I can’t stand the way this smells. At first, you’re hit with citrus, and then it fades into something unidentified. I honestly feel a little nauseated when smelling this balm. I just.. No. It’s nasty.

LASTING POWER: I wouldn’t know. Remember. Grit, grit, grit.

INGREDIENTS: virgin olive oil* infused with calendula*, comfrey*; candellia wax; jojoba oil*; castor oil*; shea butter*; hemp seed oil*; tangerine essential oil*; Roman Chamomile essential oil; pomegranate seed oil; vitamin e; rosemary extract; (taken from Pharmacopia)

OVERALL: Natural? Good. Organic? Good. This balm? Bad. I’m giving it 1.5, simply because I really do like the design of the tube. They got something right, but everything else just feels really wrong.
