Liplicious 2-in-1 Moisturizing Lip Color & Scrub

You’re wondering how the hell this thing constitutes as a lip balm, huh? Well, let me just clarify something for you fine people.

Even though something might be a lipgloss, or a lipstick, it still might have beneficial ingredients mixed into it. A lipgloss might be jam packed full of moisturizing qualities and vitamins, and while I don’t gear myself towards lipgloss, clearly, I still believe that if it’s full of good ingredients, there’s nothing wrong with making an exception and calling it a balm. A “pseudo-balm”, if you will.

This is apparently the case with this product released by Bath & Body Works. Not only are you getting a moisturizing color, but you’re also getting a scrub, to keep your lips extra soft and smooth. Question is, is it worth it?

PRICE: $12.00 at Bath & Body Works. I wouldn’t recommend paying full price, though, considering that this store is crazy and is constantly having sales that knock $7.00 off this thing.

PACKAGING: My favorite thing about it. It’s a sleek, metal stick with rounded ends. The brand name is a little difficult for me to read on the metallic background, but who’s looking for the brand name? Each end cap pulls off, and you twist up to bring out the product. I found that the little plastic inserts inside the caps that make them snap into place over the product have a tendency to come off. It’s easily fixed (when it pops off while still covering the product, put the cap back on, twist, and pull the cap off again, and voila), but still annoying.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: Well, first, there’s that Brown Sugar Scrub on one end. I like having a scrub handy. But please don’t be stupid and use the scrub when your lips are already soft and don’t really need exfoliating. This stuff isn’t that gentle, and you’re just going to hurt yourself. The scrub is slightly tough and takes some uncomfortable rubbing to get it to do it’s job. Then second, we have the moisturizing color “pseudo balm” on the other end. That glides on pretty smoothly. The color is super pigmented, though, so if you’re expecting a nice sheer color, you’ve been warned.

SMELL/FLAVOR: I have this in Watermelon Slice, and judging from the name, it’s supposed to smell like watermelon. I’d be fine with something that smells of watermelon, if this actually did smell like watermelon. It smells like grapefruit, and I really dislike grapefruit. Ew.

LASTING POWER: Maybe an hour, hour and a half. Not thrilling, but honestly, with how pigmented this is, I probably wouldn’t want it lasting too much longer than that.

ANYTHING ELSE: I want to mention how little of both products you get in this. Granted, you don’t need a whole lot of either to get the job done, but still. They want twelve bucks for a skinny inch of each product? They’re out of their minds.

OVERALL: While it does moisturize well, and the scrub is very handy, and I really do love the sleek and shiny packaging, I just don’t see where this is worth the price they want for it. Way too pigmented, doesn’t smell anything like what it’s supposed to smell like, very little of both products.. If you get it at the sale price, then give it a shot. But if not, don’t bother. There are plenty of scrubs out there, and plented of tinted lip balms, and they’re both probably much more worth it than this.
