Lather Lip Protector

Lather Lip Protector

When I hear the brand name “Lather“, I feel a little compelled to scrub my hands, or wash my hair, or you know, something that results in the making of lots of bubbles. And funnily enough, this company seems to have nothing to do with bubbles. Erm, well, aside from selling soap and shampoo and face wash and.. Okay, maybe they’re slightly associated with soap, but this lip balm isn’t.

Enough babble, ’cause baby, it’s review time!

PRICE: $6.50 each or $16.00 for a trio at Lather

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube. It’s pretty modern-looking, which would make sense, considering this company specializes in being a “modern apothecary”. It’s a pretty stylish design, nice logo, nice font (lowercase!). There’s, of course, a list of ingredients, and of course I can’t read them. But overall, it’s a pretty swell looking tube. Nothing too fancy, but definitely pleasant to look at.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: This is a nice, smooth glide without feeling slippery, and I like that, and anything I like must be grand, right? I can feel how creamy it is just by the glide. On the lips, the texture is smooth and creamy without being too thick or too light. We’ll just go ahead and call it “just right”.

SMELL/FLAVOR: There are two flavors (and also an Unscented version): Spearmint & Tea Tree and Sweet Almond. Spearmint & Tea Tree is sharp, and minty, but not harsh, nor does it tingle on the lips. It smells good, but I’m also a huge fan of anything spearmint. Sweet Almond really doesn’t need too much of a description, because well, it smells just like an almond.

LASTING POWER: Assuming you’re not going to eat for awhile, this stuff lasts a good amount of time. About two and a half to three hours. Not bad, not bad..

INGREDIENTS: octinoxate, benzophenone, titanium dioxide, brassica campestris (canola) oil, cera alba (beeswax), lecithin, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, aloe barbadensis, tocopherol, royal jelly, propolis, lysine. (taken from Lather)

ANYTHING ELSE: I’m sure you already figured this out, judging by the name, but this stuff contains SPF. 15, to be exact.

OVERALL: I’m pretty keen on this balm. Will it replace my favorites? Probably not. But even still, it’s a bit of all right, and gets an A in my book.
