Juice Beauty SPF 8 Lip Moisturizers

Juice Beauty SPF 8 Lip Moisturizers

Another product from Juice Beauty. I had been looking very forward to trying these, thinking, “Oooh! A great balm with a nice tint!” My expectations were perhaps a bit high. Okay, maybe more than a bit. But..

PRICE: $15.00 for 3 at Juice Beauty or Amazon.com

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube with top-dial. Each tube is wrapped in a glossy color-appropriate label (or at least I’m assuming it’s color-appropriate). The product name is a little small, but not really overpowered by the enormous brand logo. The little blurb, directions, and warnings are all written in a very small font. I guess they don’t want you knowing to keep it out of your eyes.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: Very, very unlike the Juice Beauty Lip Moisturizer, these don’t glide. Okay, they do a little bit, but it takes a lot of work. A lot. After you’ve managed to get it on your lips, the texture is kind of, um, not good. At the very start, it doesn’t feel horrible, but after a little while, it becomes a little grainy. Although I found that the colored ones were tougher and grainier than the clear.

SMELL/FLAVOR: Imagine a bowl of berries married lipstick. That’s what these smell like. They have that waxy, lipstick-y smell to them, mixed with sweet berries. It sounds bad, but I actually find it to be pretty pleasant.

LASTING POWER: About an hour or so. Too long, considering the way this stuff feels.

INGREDIENTS: titanium dioxide 1.5%
inactive ingredients: plant oils of helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, & ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*, infused with fruit essences of mangifera indica (mango) & passiflora edulis (passion fruit), cera alba (beeswax),* euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, aloe barbadensis leaf juice,* honey,* tocopherol (vitamin E), mica, iron oxides.
*certified organic by a USDA approved agency (taken from Juice Beauty)

ANYTHING ELSE: SPF 8 in here. Not the highest SPF, but something is better than nothing.

OVERALL: I had high hopes for these. I expected something creamy with a nice glide, and instead, grainy and tough glide. Oh well. Not everything can be perfect, right?

I love the Juice Beauty tined lip moisturizewrs. The first time you apply, the texture is a little weird, however once you have used it a couple times it glides on much better. They work really well for color and if you put a nice gloss over them, its great. I love the light pink one, its like a frosty pink! LOve it!  (Quote)
