John Masters Organics Lip Calm

Guys, I’m going to start off by saying that I am incredibly tired. I’m chilling at my boyfriend’s (we’ll call him, uh, “Mr. Balmaholic”) house after sleeping for only a few short hours last night. I decided to bang out a couple reviews while he’s at work, but I’m going to warn you.. If these don’t make sense, it’s because I’m very, very, very, very tired. If you’re okay with that, then carry on. If you’re not okay with that, then it sure sucks to be you, because you’re going to miss out on this awesome balm (or should I say “calm”?) from John Masters Organics.

PRICE: $6 at John Masters Organics

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube. This tube is very plain, very white, very crisp. The label features the company name (in lowercase letters!) and the product name (also in lowercase letters!), both very noticable on the tube, as you can see in the picture above. That’s really all you need to know about this. Oh, wait, and the ingredients list is also incredibly tiny, but isn’t that usually the way the ball bounces?

TEXTURE/GLIDE: Typically, I’m not a huge fan of super thick balms. I’m really not too keen on slathering on a layer of goop, especially when it feels like it’s smothering the life out of my lips and just sucking every last drop of moisture out of them. This, though, is a thick balm that glides on beautifully with no trouble at all, and that thick layer of balm really feels like it’s protecting the hell out of my lips while simultaneously pumping them full of moisture. I’d have to say that this is perfect for a winter balm, or a bedtime balm.

SMELL/FLAVOR: Citrus-y, without being overpowering, and slightly sweet. I smell hints of lemon, lime, tangerine, and the reason for that would be that they’re all in there. If you’ve read previous reviews, you’ll know that I’m typically not a huge citrus fan, but this really does smell good, and yes, calming. It’s not a really strong citrus, which would probably be why I like it.

LASTING POWER: Due to it’s thick nature, this stuff lasts a pretty good amount of time. About three hours or so, depending on if you find yourself eating/drinking or not.

INGREDIENTS: Olea europaea (olive oil),* carthamus tinctorius (sunflower) oil,* beeswax,* simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil),* linum usitatissimum (flax seed) oil,* borago officinalis (borage) oil,* rose mosqueta (rosehip) oil,* citrus reticulata (tangerine) peel oil,* citrus medica limonium?(lemon) peel oil,* citrus aurantifolia (lime) oil* (taken from John Masters Organics)

OVERALL: Really not a whole lot to say here. It’s a great balm. It hydrates, it softens, it protects, and it smells awesome. Perfect as a winter or a bedtime balm.

  • I am always looking for an organic lip balm. Lately I have been using Alba Botanica for summer because it contains SPF!  (Quote)

First of all, I love your site. Your reviews are amazing….you leave me wanting to read more. I tried this John Master’s lip balm, but it seemed to leave my lips feeling like they needed more. I have read all of your reviews, and have noticed that there are many that you stated were very moisturizing, but are there any in particular that you could recommend for added moisture? Thanks for your information and keep up the great work!!!  (Quote)
