Teehee.. The word “sunbrellas” makes me giggle. You have to admit, it’s cute and just sort of rolls off the tongue. It just kinda makes you want to slather a whole bunch of the stuff on and run around in the sun, knowing that you’re basking in the protection of your, haha, sunbrella.
PRICE: $4.49 at JASON Natural
PACKAGING: A little smaller than your standard sized tube at .17oz. The balm twists up from the top-dial. I find the making of the tube to be kind of flimsy. It bends a little bit, and I don’t really understand why. I’m sure it’s not going to break or anything, but it’s poor quality. The label is simple enough, featuring the brand name and a cute image of an umbrella within a sun. The label peels back from the tube to reveal a list of ingredients too tiny for me to read.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: I’m not a fan of this at all. The glide is there, but tough. I have to really push it to get it moving over my lips. The texture on my lips is light (very little balm comes off of the stick), but a little unpleasant. While it is somewhat creamy, I find it to be slightly lumpy as well. Because of the force I have to put behind it to even get it to spread over my lips, I think chunks of it break off, so it applies a little unevenly.
SMELL/FLAVOR: A light, natural peppermint. I actually really like the way this smells. Not at all harsh.
LASTING POWER: After about an hour or so, it stops feeling like a lip balm, and starts to feel more like a really uncomfortable film, leaving me with no choice but to wipe the stuff off. I’m sure it would last longer than just an hour, but not pleasantly. Just my opinion.
INGREDIENTS: I’m unable to read the ingredients on the label, nor can I find them on the website.
ANYTHING ELSE: This is primarily a beach balm. I’m not sure who well it moisturizes, but it does protect with SPF 20.
OVERALL: I just can’t like this, and that opinion is based mostly on the texture of the balm. There are plenty of other balms out there with a good amount of SPF that don’t feel like crap.
