J.R. Watkins Natural Beeswax Balm

J.R. Watkins Natural Beeswax Balm

Here we have a product from a company that I had never heard of until I happened to wander over to the lip balm section of Drugstore.com. J.R. Watkins is a company that sells all-natural bath & body products, as well as products for the home and kitchen. I’m honestly pretty darn impressed by the variety of products they have to offer. Certainly not a one trick pony, that’s for sure.

Anywho, on to the review!

PRICE: $3.29 at J.R. Watkins (although at the moment, it’s on clearance at Drugstore.com for $2.24)

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube. The label has a vintage-y, olde tyme-y feel to it that I think is very pleasant to look at. Definitely not something you see all the time, which is something I really don’t understand considering how many people totally eat that kinda thing up. It’s very uncluttered, which I also think is pretty swell. There’s a brand name, there’s a product name, and there’s a little list letting you know the flavor and that it’s 100% natural. And that’s pretty much it.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide is pretty good. No tugging required. The texture is nice as well. Very smooth and creamy. Smack dab in the middle of “light” and “thick”, which makes it juuust right. It actually reminds me of Burt’s Bees a little bit, only better (so there to all you Burt’s Bees fans..just kidding, don’t hate me).

SMELL/FLAVOR: MINTY. Very minty. Again, think Burt’s Bees, but this is a lot less harsh than Burt’s Bees. It doesn’t sting on the lips, which I definitely find to be a plus.

LASTING POWER: I’d say a good two hours or so, depending on if you plan on eating or drinking.

INGREDIENTS: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Beeswax, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Carthamus Tinctirius (Safflower) Seed Oil

OVERALL: Not my favorite EVER, but it’s a nice, less harsh alternative to Burt’s Bees. Don’t really have anything to complain about there.
