Illamasqua is a company that has always intrigued me. They’ve always stood out to me amongst the other more mundane makeup brands out there, which I guess is kinda what they’re going for, right? They want to be different, and theatrical, and unique, and WOW. And that, they certainly are. After many raves about their lipstick from ginabinawina99 on YouTube, I was excited to be given the opportunity to check their shizz out. So, here you have it.

PRICE: £15.00 right now at Illamasqua (which roughly translates to $18.46). This is a sale price, however, so grab it while you can.
PACKAGING: There really isn’t a whole lot that’s special about this .14oz tube, other than it’s shape. Looking at the top, we can see that it’s square, with pinched sides, indenting them slightly, I don’t like or dislike it, honestly. Although the tube has a glossy finish, it really doesn’t seem to pick up a whole lot of fingerprints, and while this isn’t a huge deal to me, I know some people out there are neat freaks and don’t like that sorta thang. The cap clicks securely in place, so there’s no need to freak out about it coming loose in your bag. Aaand that’s about it. Not exactly thrilling, but it certainly has that sleekness that most Illamasqua packaging has going for it.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide is creamy. Not the smoothest ride, but that would be due to the thickness of the lipstick. It is pretty thick, and pretty creamy, but I suggest wearing some sort of non-greasy lip balm underneath because it does dry out your lips a lot. Or mine at least.
SOFTEN/SOOTHE: Doesn’t do a damn thing for either.
SHINE/COLOR: Yes, these are colored obviously, and for the most part, they are BOLD. I don’t have a working camera at the moment, but take my word for it.. They are very, very pigmented.
SMELL/FLAVOR: These just have that standard lipstick scent. You know what I mean.
LASTING POWER: This lasts about an hour and a half or so.
INGREDIENTS: OCTYLDODECANOL, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM (MINERAL OIL), OLEYL ALCOHOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CANDELILLA CERA (EUPHORBIA CERIFERA (CANDELILLA) WAX), CERA CARNAUBA (COPERNICIA CERIFERA (CARNAUBA) WAX), CERA ALBA (BEESWAX), OXIDIZED POLYETHYLENE,
CERA MICROCRISTALLINA (MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX), CETYL ALCOHOL, POLYETHYLENE, TOCOPHEROL, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE) AND MAY CONTAIN: [+/- TITANIUM DIOXIDE CI 77891, IRON OXIDES CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, RED 7 CI 15850, RED 40 LAKE CI 16035, BLUE 1 LAKE CI 42090, RED 21 LAKE CI 45380, CARMINE CI 75470, RED 36 CI 12085, MANGANESE VIOLET CI 77742, COPPER/BRONZE POWDER CI 77400, YELLOW 5 LAKE CI 19140, YELLOW 6 LAKE CI 15985, RED 27 LAKE CI 45410, CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE, SILICA, TIN OXIDE, MICA] (EU EXCLUSIVE
SHADES MAY CONTAIN: CI 77007, CI 77000) MAY CONTAIN CARMINE
AS A COLOR ADDITIVE. (taken from Illamasqua)
OVERALL: I love the color payoff of these. I also love the wide variety of colors (not that it matters to a colorblind gal like myself). I think they are a tad expensive for what they are, but that’s the price you pay for luxury. Really, my only complaint is how drying these are. I don’t expect most lipsticks to be moisturizing, exactly, but I also don’t expect them to leave my lips resembling the Sahara. Okay, maybe it’s not that bad, but I don’t like that it’s mandatory for me to use a balm underneath. Other than that, though, these get a thumbs up.
