Green By Nature Lip Butter

There are very few lip balms in this world that I absolutely hate. I’m an incredibly picky person with just about everything, except lip balm. I mean, it’s really hard to go wrong with it. Some companies amaze me, though, by achieving the impossible and doing just that. They go very, very wrong.

I have been avoiding this review for a little while, because as much as I want to be honest, I don’t like giving a company a bad review. I know people work hard and try to do their best, but uh, some people need to work harder, apparently.

I considered doing a different review for each of these that I own, but uh, no. I want to get this over as quickly as humanly possible.

PRICE: $2.99 at Green By Nature

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube, and looking at them, they’re very cute. Cute brand logo, cute little picture of whatever the hell it’s supposed to smell like (or what it’s made from).. But don’t let the cuteness deceive you. The ingredients are impossibly tiny, so I couldn’t tell you what they’re made with, and although the website doesn’t specify, I’m almost certain each of them are very different. The worst thing about this is the cap. To break the “protection seal”, you have to twist the cap, right? Well, these have a problem twisting. So, you pull, you twist, you pull, you twist, and finally, it breaks off, taking a chunk of the lip balm with it. Lovely.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: Glide? Hahaha.. That’s funny. Okay, that’s not nice. Some of them have good glide. Well, sort of. Almond Butter has a very waxy glide. I mean, it glides, but not comfortably. And the texture is thick and somewhat sticky. Shea Nut glides a little less waxy, but feels about the same on the lips (thick and sticky). Mint Green Tea has the best glide and texture. Very smooth glide, and creamy texture. Beeswax has an okay glide, not too tough, but the gritty texture is strange. Chamomile Rose.. It kind of makes me want to cry. It glides on like sandpaper, and the texture is like someone smeared glue on my lips, and push my face in the sand. Lemon Verbena is similar to the waxy Almond Cocoa, but not as sticky in texture.

SMELL/FLAVOR: Let’s see.. Almond Cocoa smells very much like an almond. Beeswax is minty. Like, “make your eyes water” type minty. Chamomile Rose, once again, makes me want to cry. It’s very rose, but not a good type of rose. Like, “old lady perfume” type rose, and I’d like to mention that it tastes like soap. Lemon Verbena is a very light lemon scent, and actually kind of pleasant. Mint Green Tea is my favorite of the scents, and really does smell like minted green tea.

LASTING POWER: About three hours or so. Way too long to put up with that torture. I usually don’t make it the full three hours, though. It comes off long before then.

ANYTHING ELSE: Well, it’s 100% Paraben free. Always a silver lining.

OVERALL: These were such a huge disappointment. You look at that label, and those pictures, and you want to love them. But these.. There are no words. There just aren’t. So terrible. Granted, there might be a possibility that I just got some rotten eggs, but how is it possible that I got that many rotten eggs in one batch?
