e.l.f Studio Lip Balm

e.l.f Studio Lip Balm

My new favorite bargain brand is e.l.f (Eyes Lips Face). Their products are definitely hit or miss. Some aren’t so great, while others are pretty darn swell. Is the lip balm from their Studio line a hit or a miss? You’ll just have to read for yourself.

PRICE: $3.00 at e.l.f

PACKAGING: Yes, yes.. It’s a skinny tube. But this one is just slightly better because it’s in this square metal casing. Very sleek and sexy. I don’t know the exact amount of balm in here because I no longer have the box it originally came in, but I’m about 98% sure it’s about the same as a tube of SoftLips (.07), so yeah.. You’re not getting a whole lot for your buck, as is the case with all skinny tubed balms. But I digress. I am a fan of the packaging of this one, minus that skinny tube.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide is very smooth and easy going. The texture is very creamy and soft. I’m honestly surprised by how much I like the feel of this one.

SOFTEN/SOOTHE: Does both! Which is pretty impressive, if you ask me.

SHINE/COLOR: Nope, no real shine to this baby.

SMELL/FLAVOR: Honestly when I first opened this, it reminded me a little of cat pee, which is really disgusting. But after being used a couple times, it just has this mild mintiness to it. How it resembled cat pee in the beginning, I don’t know, but whatever. I don’t ask questions. The mintiness also provides this really pleasant cooling sensation.

LASTING POWER: About two hours or so.

INGREDIENTS: Hydrogenated Polyisobutene Polyethylene Wax Ceresine Wax Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Microcrystalline Wax, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Methyparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben. (taken from e.l.f)

OVERALL: I wasn’t expecting this to be as good as it is. I was expecting something that was “eh” at best, but this is actually really decent. Of course I hate that damn skinny tube, but whatev’s. I like it, and I’ll continue to use it.

What do you think?

Yay or Nay?

Thanks for the review! I was kinda skeptical about this balm, but you make it sound pretty darn good! Lol @ the smell. I hate some of their scents and yep, ELF is really hit or miss for me too -_-; I tried the regular line therapeutic conditioning balm… and it kinda felt like what I’d imagine it would feel like to rub crisco all over your lips :/ Needless to say I didn’t really like that one! I’m tempted to try this one now, though : )

  • I had an ELF lib balm that was strawberry flavored once – too bad it melted in my hot car :( . I usually don’t go for skinny lip balms because they’re somehow more easy to lose (which is a big problem for me) But this one has such sexy packaging. I might check it out..  (Quote)
