ChapStick Moisturizer

ChapStick Moisturizer

I’m not a huge fan of ChapStick, and I know, I know.. That might shock some of you. I know ChapStick is a pioneer in the lip balm world but hear me out.. For the price of a tube o’ ChapStick, I could get something better from a lesser known brand. You feel me? Good. But that being said, when I saw this variety on Drugstore.com, I was actually pretty darn excited and jumped at the chance to snatch one of these up. And honestly, I’m pretty glad I did.

PRICE: $1.99 at Drugstore.com

PACKAGING: Uh, basically, it’s a tube of ChapStick. I feel kind of stupid describing this when everybody and their mom knows what it looks like, but fine. I’ll briefly lay it out for you. You got your .15oz tube with the signature “rounded cap” that ChapStick lip balms always seem to have. The label is okay, with the brand name written in their bold signature font with a shiny border all around it. The product name is written underneath that in an easy-to-read font, and the flavor name is wrapped around the bottom of the tube. And there’s really nothing else to say about that.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide of other ChapSticks never impressed me. But this one.. This one is good. It just glides on with nooo problem whatsoever. No tugging required. The texture is simply okay. It’s certainly not my favorite in the world, because it does feel a little heavy and a little waxy. But it’s not awful.

SOFTEN/SOOTHE: Not quite sure about it’s soothing abilities, but it does soften pretty nicely.

SHINE/COLOR: None. No shine or color.

SMELL/FLAVOR: I have this in the Vanilla Mint flavor, and the fact that it’s vanilla-mint scented is honestly why I bought this in the first place. It smells amazing, and has the right amount of mint and the right amount of vanilla, and mmm.. I love sniffing this stuff more than I like using it.

LASTING POWER: The lasting power is decent, due to how thick and waxy it is. I’d say about two and a half, three hours.

INGREDIENTS: Active Ingredients: Octinoxate (7.5%), Oxybenzone (3.5%), White Petrolatum (38.7%) Inactive Ingredients: Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Extract, Alumina, BHT, Cetearyl Alcohol, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isocetyl Stearate, Isopropyl Lanolate, Isopropyl Myristate, Lanolin, Medium Chain Triglycerides, Methylparaben, Mineral Oil, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Paraffin, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Propylparaben, Saccharin, Silica, Titanium Dioxide, Triacetin, Vitamin E Acetate, White Wax (taken from Drugstore.com)

OVERALL: So, even after using this, I haven’t been turned into a ChapStick fanatic or anything. But this is actually pretty decent. It does moisturize well, and it smells amazing. I’m not too keen on the waxy feeling on my lips, but hey, what can ya do.

What do you think?

Yay or Nay?
