An Etsy balm! I realize these haven’t happened in a little while, and for that I apologize. It’s really not much of an excuse, but Etsy balms are sometimes tough to do reviews on. Believe me — I have tons of ‘em (the balms, I mean), but once I go to actually review them, the company is no longer in existance. SO, like I said, as much as I like to bring Etsy balms to you guys, sometimes it’s just not doable. I do it when I can, though.
Anyway! This is an Etsy balm, so you may all rejoice. This one comes from Balm Mom.
PRICE: $3.50 at Balm Mom
PACKAGING: Your standard ol’ lip balm tube. The labels are adorable and when I look at them, I think “home-grown general store” for some unexplainable reason. Don’t ask. Just what pops into my head. They’re so simple and elegant and just really nicely designed. The flavor and product name are written where it’s obvious, in that little “bubble”, on top of a chainlink background. The ingredients are written underneath that, which I can sort of read but I have to really strain to do it. A colored border wraps around the entire label, aaand that’s about it. Like I said, simple yet elegant with a very home-grown general store feel. ..Really don’t know where I pulled that “general store” part from. Go figure.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: This is the type of texture that I’m always surprised that I like. The glide is very smooth and creamy, and the texture basically duplicates the glide. It’s a pretty thick balm, though, and normally the thick ones are the ones that turn me off. I’m just not a fan of having suffocated lips, you know? But this is the type of thick balm that protects, softens, and also allows my lips to breathe. Thumbs up for that.
SMELL/FLAVOR: I have four of these: Cucumber Melon, Fresh Blueberry, Market Fresh Peach, and Sweet Lemonade. Cucumber Melon surprised me, actually, because I find that most cucumber melon scents focus more on the melon and not so much on the cucumber. Either that, or the cucumber doesn’t smell like actual cucumber. This one, though, smells like actual cucumbers with just enough melon, so you don’t feel as though you’re rubbing a vegetable on your lips. Fresh Blueberry is my favorite of the bunch. This really smells like fresh blueberries. I firmly believe that there should be more blueberry scented products out there, and this is definitely a must-have. Market Fresh Peach, I was afraid of. People never get peach flavors right, and it almost always ends up smelling like a cousin to Rice-A-Roni. This, though, actually smells like a peach. I’m really impressed. Sweet Lemonade is exactly what it says it is. Sweet lemonade. And I’m not a huge fan of lemon-scented balms, but this one has just enough sweetness for me to not mind the tart lemon. So, in all, I’m very satisfied with these flavors. I see she has a banana one as well.. Might have to give that a try.
LASTING POWER: Because this is a thicker balm, it lasts a good amount of time. I’d say over two hours.
INGREDIENTS: Castor oil, frac coconut oil, beeswax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, and pre-sweetened flavor.
OVERALL: These are definitely an Etsy balm to check out. They feel great, they moisturize well, they protect against the cold weather, and the flavors are awesome. Definitely awesome.
