mi SPA Lip Balm

Every now and then, I find a product that I really just have to try. Just something about it screams, “OMG YOU NEED TO TRY ME!!!” That was the case with this product from mi SPA. And why? Because it contains rice bran oil, and rice bran wax. I have never seen that in a lip balm before, and I wanted desperately to know how it works. Well, let me just tell you.. It works pretty darn good.

PRICE: $3.30 at mi SPA

PACKAGING: Here we have a cute little .25oz sliding tin. The label features the brand logo and the product name, which I like (you know me and lowercase letters, oooh..). The flavor name is featured on a piece of tape, that comes wrapped around the tin, securing it closed during shipping (thumbs up!). On the bottom of the tin is another label, listing the short list of ingredients. Readable short list of ingredients. Another thumbs up.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The thing I normally hate most about tub-balms is that sometimes it takes a friggin’ army for you to actually get anything out onto your finger, and if it doesn’t, sometimes you get way more than you bargained for. Neither is the case with this. This balm is easily retrieved, and while in the tin, it feels somewhat gritty, it doesn’t feel at all like that on your lips. On the lips, this is smooth, creamy, and just the right balance between light and heavy.

SMELL/FLAVOR: I have this in Asian Pear (also available in Coconut Lemongrass and Tango Mango). It’s a very faint scent, but it is in fact a very true-to-life pear scent. A little sweet, but very, very good.

LASTING POWER: I’d say about an hour and a half, two hours tops. Not too shabby.

INGREDIENTS: Castor Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Rice Bran Wax, Vitamin E and Flavor Oil. (taken from mi SPA)

OVERALL: This stuff is great. Feels great, smells great, cute packaging.. What more could you ask for? Plus, rice bran wax/oil! I don’t know why this makes me excited, but it does, and I’m impressed with what it does for the lips.
