Blamtastic!

Blamtastic

Here at Balmaholic, you know how much I love “cute”. That little devil in me can’t keep me from “aww”-ing over something adorable, and the balms from Blamtastic are certainly no exception. They’re cute, they’re fun, and they are the brain children of two very adorable girls, Melanie and Lily. You can read more about their story here. But first, it’s review time!

PRICE: $2.99 at Blamtastic

PACKAGING: Your standard sized tube. Each one of these lip balms has a different, fun, colorful (I think) label. See, the balms are separated into two catagories: a line for girls, and a line for boys. The girl-balms are pretty, with flowers and a cursive logo, while the boy-balms are a little less delicate. But both lines are adorable, with cute pictures and cute designs. There is, of course, a list of ingredients that I, of course, can’t read.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: Back when I was a kid, they had different “made for kids” lip products, the infamous Lip Smackers being one of them, and if I recall correctly, none of that “kid stuff” had good glide whatsoever. It felt chalky, and hard, and ripped the skin off your lips instead of gliding on soft ‘n smooth. Kids really have it made these days, because now they have Blamtastic. This stuff goes on smooth without the need to tug whatsoever. The texture is light and creamy. A+.

SMELL/FLAVOR: There are nine flavors in all; five in the girls line, four in the boys.

Girls:

Cherry Nilla – It smells a little like cherry Chapstick, but better. There’s a distinct cherry scent, and a nice hint of vanilla.

Lemon-licious – A sweet lemon. It almost reminds me of a household cleaner, but in a good way.

O.M.G. (Oh My Grape) – Okay, first, how cute is that name? And second, I don’t like grape scents too much, but this is actually really good. Not too strong, and pretty sweet.

Sassafrassy Root Beer – My favorite! This smells exactly like root beer, and if you know me, you’ll know that I love root beer flavored lip balms.

Strawberry Shake – This is a very sweet strawberry scent, and dare I say, kind of artificial. It smells like strawberry candy. Maybe Laffy Taffy. I’m not complaining. Just sayin’.

Boys:

Alien Invasion (green apple) – It is what it says: green apple. And it does green apple very, very well.

Grand Slam Blam (bubble gum) – I have heard multiple people say that this smells like Bazooka bubble gum, but now, I don’t really know about that considering I wasn’t too into Bazooka when I was a wee one, but still, this is a great smelling bubble gum balm. Just the right amount of sweetness.

Radioactive (lemon-lime) – Okay, this smells like a household cleaner in the best of ways. This stuff smells really freakin’ good. Not too lemony, not too limey. It’s the right mix of the two.

Brain Squeeze (sour cherry) – I don’t really smell too much “sour” in this, but you know what it does smell like? Cherry cola. This is my favorite of the boys’ line. It’s cherry, it’s sweet, and you can kind of smell the bubbles (this wasn’t their intent, but whatever).

LASTING POWER: It has a pretty light texture, so honestly, it doesn’t last too long. Maybe an hour or so. That’s not a bad thing, though. You’ll want to reapply a different flavor shortly after you apply the first one, anyway. They smell so good.

INGREDIENTS: Can’t find them, and I can’t read them off the tube. However, I do know that there’s nothing bad in them. So, take what you want from that statement, and let’s move on.

ANYTHING ELSE: There is SPF 15 in all of these, which is pretty swell, isn’t it? Also.. I know that these seem very kiddie and all, but the quality is pretty amazing. I hope that those of you who are more “sophisticated” aren’t turned off by the cuteness.

OVERALL: These are really awesome. They’re fun, feel good, great for kids and adults alike, and they have awesome flavors. So, really, what’s not to love about this?

Give lip smackers another try! I think they’ve changed the formula. It goes on really smooth and creamy, and smells amazing. It also lasts a pretty long time (2 hours?) leaving my lips soft and smooth. Plus, it’s dirt cheap! I just got a three pack at Target with Kiwi, Mango, and Tropical punch, and it was only 3.64 for all of them! My all time faves are pink lemonade, vanilla, and kiwi. mmm. And this is all coming from a 28 year old, so no kid bias here.  (Quote)

  • Nice content, I think this is a inspiring blog, inline with my blog. Wish to see next content.  (Quote)

  • I love Lip Smackers too and I agree that they’re better than they used to be. However, being a mom, I would so much rather give my money to two adventurous and smart lil girls than the Bonne Bell corporation. BB makes enough money already.

(I’m also still mad at Bonne Bell for not making 10-0-6 lotion anymore, but that’s another story.
