Yu-Be Lip Therapy

Yu-Be Lip Therapy

I’ve made it known a time or two before that I’m a big fan of foreign stuff. For some odd reason, I have it in my head that if it comes from the icy tundras of Anarctica, there has to be something miraculous going on inside that little tube. Most of the time, of course, this isn’t the case. I spend a ridiculous amount of money on the stuff only to find that it’s comparable to Blistex. But every now and then, I have to think, “Wow, those people overseas really know what they’re doing.”

The Yu-Be products come here from Japan, supposedly bringing the Japanese secret to ultra-amazing skincare to this side of the globe. And you know what I found after using this stuff? Well, you’ll just have to find out (I really know how to build the anticipation).

PRICE: $5.00 at Yu-Be

PACKAGING: Once again, your standard sized tube. There’s not a whole lot that really stands out to me on this tube, except that for some reason, it really tells me that it’s from Japan. Maybe it’s the fact that it says it right on the tube, but it’s also the choice in fonts, the cute, but simple design.. Or maybe I’m just weird, and because I know it’s Japanese, I think it looks Japanese. Whatever. Moving along..

TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide isn’t very pleasant, honestly. I’m really not a fan. It glides on slowly, and has a thick texture that sits on your lips heavily, and for that reason, I recommend this as a bedtime balm.

SMELL/FLAVOR: It smells exactly like tea tree oil, which is weird, because it’s not made with tea tree oil. Perhaps it’s the canphor that gives it that scent. I can’t say that I find it to be the most pleasant smell on the face of the planet, but that’s another reason why I recommend this as a bedtime balm. Can’t really smell anything while you’re sleeping, y’know?

LASTING POWER: Well, I’ve had it applied now for about two hours, and it’s still going strong. It’s thinned out a little bit, but otherwise, it’s there.

ANYTHING ELSE: So, you might be thinking that what I’ve already said about this stuff doesn’t make it sound too appealing. Well, if that’s what you’re thinking, then you’re right. I really haven’t said anything too great about it thus far. To get the rest of the “downsides” out of the way, I’ll also mention that it doesn’t contain any SPF protection. So, as a beach balm, forget about it. However, if one night comes along, and you have chapped, dry lips, and you put this on right before you go to sleep, you will wake up with your lips soft and feeling ten times better. It’s for that reason that I find this stuff to be absolutely amazing.

OVERALL: I would like to say “bravo!” to the Japanese people who created this formula 50 years ago. It’s incredible, and one of the best bedtime balms I’ve come across.

(.5 knocked off because it really is only comfortable as a bedtime balm, and nothing more)
