Something you don’t all know about me is that I am absolutely in love with the Kat Von D line at Sephora. I’ve actually felt myself slip into mini panics over the idea of this line not existing anymore. I swear, it’s like it was made with me in mind. Who knows, maybe it was. ..Er, probably not, but whatever. I can dream! ..Oh my God, and I just saw that there’s now a mascara and eye primer. Shoot me. Um, anywho, here’s the review for this awesomely awesome gloss.
PRICE: $18.00 at Sephora
PACKAGING: You’ll have to forgive me because have no clue how much is in here. If it’s on the little label, I have no idea because it’s written in a font that only a god can read. Or at least someone with better eyesight than I do. But anyway, this is some of the prettiest packaging for a gloss I think I’ve ever seen. The cap is black and texturized (has a satiny finish to it), featuring the Kat Von D Sephora logo on the side and a little KVD stamp at the top. The tube containing the product is transparent and has a really nice rose design. You want to know something funny? I actually didn’t know all of these had that rose design, because the first one I got (I have two: Sexer and Stormy), which was Sexer, contrasts with the gloss inside too much for my eyes. Totally blended right in to me. But, um, yeah.. That story sounded a lot funnier in my head. Anyway, this has a doe-foot applicator with a clear wand, which I really kinda like. I love clear things. I know that some people aren’t a huge fan of the doe-foot, and I can’t say I’m overly thrilled with it, but I don’t shun a product because of it either. So, yes, very nice packaging, and here we move along.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: Let me just tell you that I brace myself whenever I try out a new gloss, because I am always terrified that it is going to be that horribly sticky, “wind blows and your hair is permanently glued to your lips” texture. Luckily, I’ve been saved from that experience so far. This goes on really easily, and the texture is honestly impressive. I say this because there is a ton of glitter in these. The glitter is really fine, so you don’t have huge super-noticable chunks of glitter on your mouth and you won’t randomly find glitter traveling all over your face, but I expected grittiness. I expected to rub my lips together and feel something resembling sand grinding away. But that isn’t the case. These have a really great texture. Very smooth, very creamy, and not in the slightest bit sticky. I even find them to be pretty decent at moisturizing. Definitely a win.
SMELL/FLAVOR: This is where these have actually driven me crazy, because I cannot for the life of me pinpoint what these smell like. It’s something from my childhood. Something very fruity and sweet. Perhaps a candy, or a drink. Drives me absolutely insane, and makes me feel as though I’m getting really old if I can’t remember the things I enjoyed as a kid. But anyway, I personally really like the scent of these. Like I said, very fruity and sweet, but I like it. It’s a fun scent. I can see, though, where someone else might not like this. Might be a little too sweet or fruity for them. So, if you’re one of those people that doesn’t like really sweet, candy-like, fruity smells, try at your own risk.
LASTING POWER: It’s a pretty light gloss with nothing really sticking it to your lips in the formula, so it’s not that long lasting. Say about 45 minutes or so.
INGREDIENTS: I haven’t the slightest clue, sorry.
ANYTHING ELSE: These are colored, but I’ve been told that they are really sheer. Hence the name. Duh.
OVERALL: I’m a huge fan of these. I actually have it in my head that I need to collect them all, but we won’t go there because I’m poor. They’re fun, pretty, smell good, and feel good. And I’ll probably praise anything that comes out of this line, but that’s just me.
