Lanolips 101 Ointment

Lanolips 101 Ointment

I have a confession to make, guys.. I’m a little selfish. I like reviewing things that are easy for me to get my hands on, in the event that I wanna keep using it after reviewing it. But I was given the opportunity to try this product from an Australian company called Lanolips (not to be confused with LanoLip), and I’m now a tad depressed that it’s not so easy for us in the States to get.

I reviewed the previously mentioned LanoLip awhile back, and I was impressed by the overall texture of the product and the results after using it on my lips for a little while. I honestly was a little grossed out at the idea of putting a sheep’s fatty oils all over my mouth, but whatev’s — I pulled through. But see, I’m no longer all that impressed with LanoLip, and that is because I’ve tried this.

I don’t mean to compare the two products, because they are both good and both worth checking out. But just so you know, LanoLip only contains medical grade lanolin, while Lanolips is made of 100% ULTRA medical grade lanolin, which you can read about here, along with benefits to using the product and other uses for it.

PRICE: $17.95AUD at adorebeauty

PACKAGING: This is a 17.5ml squeeze tube (or about .7oz). I think that the part that’ll stand out to everyone is that sheep. She’s so stylish and pretty with her lips and eyelashes. But anyway, yeah, she’s sitting at the very top of the tube, above the Lanolips company name. Below that, we have the product name. On the back, there’s the list of ONE ingredient — I will probably never see that phenomenon again. There’s also some info about the product. Twist off the cap, and.. No slant-tip applicator! This is just one of those, er, holes. Think “tube of toothpaste”. Which means you’re gonna kinda have to use your fingers for this one unless you get creative. Overall, I like the packaging for this. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s very clean looking. Plus, I really love that sheep.

TEXTURE/GLIDE: First, it really helps to warm the tube with your hands a bit before attempting to apply this. Otherwise, it’s really difficult to even squeeze it out of the tube. Once you’ve done that, this stuff is easy peasy. It glides on with zero problems whatsoever. The texture is a little different, but really good. It really kind of forms a barrier on your lips, definitely not like putting on plain ol’ lip balm. It’s very smooth and creamy, and moisturizes amazingly, with zero stickiness or tackiness. When first applied, there’s a little bit of a really nice gloss to it, but after awhile it sinks into your lips and the glossiness tones down a lot.

SMELL/FLAVOR: There is zero scent to this.

LASTING POWER: The actual balm lasts about two hours or so, but even after it has visably worn off, you can still kinda feel the residue hanging around.

INGREDIENTS: 100% Ultra-refined medical grade lanolin. AND THAT’S IT. Totally mindblowing.

OVERALL: Looove. I’m a little sad that when my tube is gone, it’s gonna be a little difficult for me to get my hands on it, and I use this stuff a lot (yes, for more purposes than just my lips — gotta love multi-use products!). But setting my tears aside, this is an awesome product and if you can manage to snatch one up, or you’re lucky and live in Australia, I definitely recommend it.

What multi-use products have you been loving lately?
