I’ve realized that I’ve been posting a lot more of the “big boys” lately. I think I just go through phases. I’m going to try and kinda mush ‘em together from now on. But anyway, this is one that I’m really excited to share with you guys. I’ve been using them quite a bit recently, one in particular, and it’s seriously tickling my fancy right now. You know, until the next good balm comes along and replaces it, ’cause let’s face it, in my line of work, that’s just bound to happen. But let’s not think about that. Let’s focus on this kickass balm from Clear Hills Honey Co., a family-owned company. They make all of their products from their own beehives. Taking matters into their own hands — I like it.
PRICE: $2.99 at Clear Hills Honey Co.
PACKAGING: Your standard ol’ .15oz tube. First thing, I love how big the flavor name is written on these. It’s important to me to actually know what product I’m using, and being visually impaired, this is sometimes a difficult task. But I’m not running into any problem with these babies. That flavor name is right there, in your face, and I love that. And as if that wasn’t enough, there is a picture right next to the flavor name, and every picture is exactly what the flavor name is. So, not only is this good for people who don’t like those tiny fonts, but it’s also good for someone who maybe can’t read very well. It’s awesome. Underneath that is a little blurb about the product, and a very short list of ingredients. All of this is printed on a really cute honeycomb background. Just so you know, I have a thing for labels with printed backgrounds. I think they add just a little bit of pizazz to something that would otherwise maybe be a little boring. So, yeah, good job on the labels.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: The glide is seriously awesome. You know, I’m always sometimes a little skeptical when it comes to beeswax balms. I find that some of them are really thick and take a little bit of tug to get them going. Well, that is not at all the case with this one. It’s very easy and smooth. The texture is actually very light but very moisturizing. I’m not a fan of the light balms that really don’t do a whole lot for me, but the light balms that go on and soak right in there to make my lips really soft.. Those are the type I keep around.
SMELL/FLAVOR: Okay, these are available in an awesomely huge amount of flavors, and I have four. I have this in: Brandy, Sweet Spearmint, Wild Strawberry, and Vanilla Honey. Brandy isn’t bad. It might be a little too sweet for my tastes, but it’s still good. Wild Strawberry is an awesome sweet strawberry flavor, plus a hint of shimmer, which is awesome (the shimmer doesn’t affect the smooth, creamy texture of the balm). Sweet Spearmint is great. I’m a big fan of spearmint, but not a fan of the harsh kind. This is actually pretty perfect. Vanilla Honey, though, is my favorite of them all. I’m honestly afraid I’m going to run out of this one, I’ve used it so much. It has a really unique sweet, almost herbal scent to it. When I’m stressed out or worried (which seems to be pretty often), I like to use this balm and it’s like a breath of fresh air. That sounds seriously lame, but it’s amazing at calming you down. I really love it, and I kinda feel like I have to stock up.
LASTING POWER: So, since we’re dealing with a light balm here, the lasting power isn’t amazing, about an hour or so. But the way it softens definitely is amazing, so reapplying isn’t an issue.
INGREDIENTS: Sweet almond oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, vitamin E, honey, propolis, and essential oils.
OVERALL: Amazing. It softens really well, it smells awesome, it feels great, it certainly isn’t going to break the bank, and it’s supporting the “little guy”. Seriously, that vanilla honey is living in my bag until it’s gone.

These balms sound great…You definitely made me want to try the vanilla honey variety! But then again, after reading through the blog, I’ve got a very long list of companies I can’t wait to try… Kate(Quote)
So I just ordered Orange Chocolate, Vanilla Honey, and Oregon Blueberry. Can’t wait to get them in a few days! Kate(Quote)
Kate, be sure to let us know how they are! Balmaholic(Quote)
I got my package Friday afternoon in the mail, and you are so right. These balms are amazing! It took a few applications to get the smell/flavor totally working (at first they were just overwhelmingly honey-scented) but after that they smell fabulous. AND…my lips are in love. The texture/glide is pretty perfect, and even after they sink in, I can still feel what I assume is the bees wax sort of lingering and protecting/softening my lips for hours! Kate(Quote)
I love Clear Hills Honey Earl Grey YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loveabounds(Quote)

We’ve got Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Pumpkin Pie all floating around the house somewhere. My crazy husband prefers his unflavored though. Kari(Quote)
