You know, running this blog, I sometimes come across products that I’m actually excited to write about. Just because I can’t wait for a bunch of people to read about it and potentially go out and give that company some business. This product is one of those. I have been using this stuff almost religiously for a little while now, and I have a darn good reason for it, too.
PRICE: $5.49 at Surgeon’s Skin Secret. They’re on sale right now for $4.99.
PACKAGING: This looks to be your standard sized tube of lip balm. Brand logo along side the short list of ingredients, product/color name written below accompanied by a kissy mark.. It’s not the most exciting tube in the world, but you look at it and know exactly what it is, and that’s really all you can ask for. No guessing games here, and that’s good.
TEXTURE/GLIDE: This is where I was surprised like woah. You hear “gloss”, you think “sticky”, or “tacky” at the very least. You don’t typically think “smooth as a baby’s bottom omgz”, right? Well, think again, because that’s exactly what you get from this. This glides on incredibly smooth, almost too smooth, if you can believe that. It feels incredibly creamy, a little on the light side, and, dare I say it, yummy on your lips while adding a really nice shine to your lips. No patent leather mouth here. Just a nice natural-looking shine. There is some shimmer in these, but even that, I was surprised that there was zero grit. Really impressive. And did I mention it’s really moisturizing? No? Well, it is.
SMELL/FLAVOR: These really don’t have any scent that I can detect, which I honestly find a bit disappointing, but hey. This is damn near perfect already, so I can’t really complain too much.
LASTING POWER: The lasting power isn’t super impressive, and I’d say it lasts about an hour and a half or so. But like I’ve said in other reviews, I never really expect a whole lot out of any lip product when it comes to staying power, so this is never a huge deal to me.
INGREDIENTS: Castor Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Candelilla Wax, Almond Oil, Cosmetic Grade Mica (taken from Surgeon’s Skin Secret)
ANYTHING ELSE: These are colored/tinted. I’m not sure if any of the eight colors have more color payoff than others. Remember, colorblind here.
OVERALL: This product is seriously awesome, and I’m going to be completely upfront with you guys. If you’re looking for a lip balm that will add some nice color and sheen to your lips without being like a super shiny, super sticky gloss, this is your man.
